The color of metals

Why are metals always gray or yellow? Why not other colors, like red, or green, or blue?

It consists of fine iron ore fused at high temperature with fluxes to form a porus clinker, which is later charged to the blast furnace.

That was the second of the three sentences comprising the Wikipedia definition of "Sinter" as I found it a few minutes ago. (I have since moved the information to the discussion page of the much larger and clear article "Sintering" for checking and merging.)

It's been a long time since I've seen such an obscure definition (written seriously) Gotta be a record.
