437 Babies on Board: Wolf spider

I'm on vacation in West Virginia right now, but through the magic of computing I set this photo to appear today:

I've seen plenty of wolf spiders dragging a round white egg case around, but I'd never considered what happened next. Apparantly, momma totes them around until they're big enough to hunt on their own. Very cool.

I'll start with a made-for-desktop closeup of a clematis blossom. It was intended as a reference picture so that I could identify the flower later, but it came out far better than I had intended.
