- Problem
- My roommate’s Toshiba Satellite’s touchpad stopped working after a safe-mode boot — completely unresponsive, both the pad and the buttons. We used a USB mouse until the touchpad was working again.
- Solution
-
- Turn off computer, unplug from power supply, and remove battery
- Wait several seconds
- Reconnect battery and power and turn computer back on
- Explanation
- Toshiba touchpads apparently do this sometimes. My guess is that this clears a bad program state in the touchpad’s firmware.
